Vasynchuk, Antin or Vasylchuk [Васиньчук, Антін; Vasyn'čuk; Polish: Wasyńczuk], b 21 November 1885 in Kholm, d 13 May 1935 in Kholm. Agronomist and civic and political leader; brother of Pavlo Vasynchuk. During Ukraine’s struggle for independence (1917–20) he was a member of the Central Rada and the Ukrainian National Republic’s government director of repatriation for the displaced inhabitants of the Kholm region and Podlachia. He was a founder and president of the Ridna Khata society (1920) and copublisher of the weekly Nashe zhyttia (Kholm) (1921–8). He also set up Ukrainian co-operatives. In 1922 he was elected to the Polish Sejm, where he presided over the Ukrainian caucus (1922–4) (see Ukrainian Parliamentary Representation).
