Voskobiinyk, Mykhailo or Voskobiynyk, Michael [Воскобійник, Михайло; Voskobijnyk, Myxajlo], b 21 November 1918 in Myrhorod, Poltava gubernia, d 15 September 2001 in Florida (buried at South Bound Brook, New Jersey, USA). Historian, journalist, and political activist; full member of the Shevchenko Scientific Society. A graduate of Kharkiv University (1941), he fled to Germany during the Second World War and then emigrated to the United States of Amrica and completed his studies at Syracuse University (1964) and the University of Pennsylvania (PH D, 1972). He edited Ukraïns’ki visti (1945–53) in Neu-Ulm. He taught history at Syracuse University (1958–64) and Central Connecticut State University (1966–87). He also served as president of the Ukrainian Revolutionary Democratic party (1975–95) and chairman of the council of the Ukrainian Democratic Alliance. In 1989–92 he served as head of the Ukrainian National Council.
