Kasymenko, Oleksander

Kasymenko, Oleksander [Касименко, Олександер], b 23 June 1905 in Velyka Burimka, Zolotonosha county, Poltava gubernia, d 13 January 1971 in Kyiv. Soviet historian and Communist Party functionary. From 1931 he taught at Kyiv University. From 1933 to 1947 he held various Party posts. He was a member of the delegation of the Ukrainian SSR at the signing of Paris Peace Treaties of 1947. From 1947 to 1964 he served as director of the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR and editor of many of its publications. His works are written in a propagandistic manner and deal mostly with Ukrainian-Russian relations.
