Kozlovsky, Oleksii

Kozlovsky, Oleksii [Козловський, Олексій; Kozlovs'kyj, Oleksij], b 17 March 1892 in Isakivtsi, Kamianets-Podilskyi county, Podilia gubernia, d 31 October 1971 in New Haven, Connecticut, USA. Civic and political figure. Completing his law studies at Kyiv University, he served in the Russian army. In 1918 he joined the Karmaliuk Haidamaka Battalion of the UNR Army (see Haidamaka Units of the Army of the UNR). When the Directory of the Ukrainian National Republic came to power, he worked at the Defense Ministry in Kyiv. Emigrating in 1920 to Czechoslovakia, he served from 1922 to 1951 as lecturer and secretary of the Ukrainian Husbandry Academy and the Ukrainian Technical and Husbandry Institute. At the same time he belonged to the external delegation of the Ukrainian Social Democratic Workers' party and edited and published its central organ Sotsiial-Demokrat in Poděbrady, Czechoslovakia. In 1951 he immigrated to the United States of America.
