Stanyslavsky, Mykola

Stanyslavsky, Mykola [Станиславський, Микола; Stanyslavs'kyj], b 29 August 1892 in Ozeriany, Lokhvytsia county, Poltava gubernia, d 24 October 1937 in Kyiv. Lexicographer. From 1926 he served as secretary of the Section of Administrative Language at the socioeconomic department of the Institute of the Ukrainian Scientific Language of the All-Ukrainian Academy of Sciences. With M. Doroshenko and Volodymyr Strashkevych he compiled a normative Russian-Ukrainian dictionary of administrative terminology (1930). He also prepared a book of Russian-Ukrainian administrative and newspaper phraseology (unpublished) and wrote several reviews on contemporary Ukrainian orthographic and lexical issues and stylistics and an article on Ukrainian abbreviations (1930). He was arrested during the Stalinist terror and subsequently executed by the NKVD.
