Vretsona, Yevhen

Vretsona, Yevhen [Врецьона, Євген; Vrec'ona, Jevhen], b 1 October 1905 in Vynnyky, Lviv county, Galicia, d 4 February 1975 in Basel, Switzerland. Political leader of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) and the Ukrainian Supreme Liberation Council (UHVR). After graduating in chemistry from the Higher Technical School in Prague (1933) he edited the sports weekly Hotovi in Lviv and contributed to Tekhnichni visty. As an OUN member he participated in organizing the Carpathian Sich (1938–9). After the Second World War he was active in the External Representation of the UHVR and contributed to Suchasna Ukraïna and Suchasnist’.
