Chystiakov, Borys

Chystiakov, Borys [Чистяков, Борис; Čystjakov], b 23 June 1914 in Saint Petersburg, d 28 January 1980 in Kyiv. Opera conductor. After graduating from the Kyiv Conservatory in 1937 Chystiakov became conductor at the Kyiv Opera and Ballet Theater. The following Ukrainian operas and ballets form part of his repertoire: Utoplena (The Drowned Girl) and Natalka Poltavka (Natalka from Poltava) by Mykola Lysenko, Lisova pisnia (The Forest Song) by Mykhailo Skorulsky, Lileia (The Lily) by Kostiantyn Dankevych, Marusia Bohuslavka (Marusia from Bohuslav) by A. Svechnikov, and Tini zabutykh predkiv (Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors) by Vitalii Kyreiko.
