Dzis, Volodymyr

Dzis, Volodymyr [Дзісь, Володимир; Dzis'], 17 October 1903 in Lviv, d 23 May 1944 in Krynytsia (Krynica), Lemko region. Galician journalist who worked first for Novyi chas and then (1933–9) for the various periodicals of the Front of National Unity such as Peremoha, Bat’kivshchyna, and Ukraïns’ki visty. In 1941 Dzis worked for Ukraïns’ke slovo (1941) in Kyiv, and later in L’vivs’ki visti in Lviv. He served time in Polish jails (including the concentration camp in Bereza Kartuzka) and Soviet prisons as a political prisoner.
