Pravda i volia

Pravda i volia («Правда і воля»; Truth and Liberty). A newspaper published weekly and then semimonthly in Winnipeg from January 1929 to early 1932. Initially the organ of the Ukrainian People's Home and then of the Ukrainian Labor Alliance in Canada, it published articles on political affairs and the labor movement. Although socialist in profile and perspective, the paper criticized Stalinism and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and especially the pro-communist Ukrainian Labour-Farmer Temple Association. The editor of Pravda i volia was Mykyta Mandryka. Contributors included Dmytro Hunkevych, N. Baran, Semen Kovbel (Kowbell), and such leading members of the Ukrainian Party of Socialist Revolutionaries in Europe as Nykyfor Hryhoriiv, Serhii Borodaievsky, and Spyrydon Dovhal.
