Prykhylny, Amvrosii
Prykhylny, Amvrosii [Прихильний, Амвросій: Pryxyl'nyj, Amvrosij; real name Vaberene Nutclauss], b ? in Italy, d 1641 in Lviv. Architect of Italian origin. Pietro di Barbone’s assistant from 1588, he became a member of the Lviv builders’ guild in 1591 and was elected often to its presidency. He took part in the construction of the Dormition Church in Lviv (1591–1631) and the buildings of the Lviv Dormition Brotherhood. After Paolo Romanus’s death he completed the Bernardine church in Lviv (1630). He also built his own residence in Lviv and collaborated in building Saint Lazarus’s Roman Catholic Church in Lviv, the Ostrozky family’s castle in Stare Selo, near Lviv, and the Roman Catholic church in Zhovkva (1605). His style is a blend of the Italian Renaissance with indigenous architectural motifs.
