Sokovych, Yevhen

Sokovych, Yevhen [Сокович, Євген; Sokovyč, Jevhen], b 1864 in Kremenchuk, Poltava gubernia, d 1946 in Potsdam, Germany. Civil engineer, politician, and diplomat. He served as minister of communications in the Council of National Ministers of the Ukrainian National Republic headed by Vsevolod Holubovych (January–April 1918) and later as Ukrainian consul in Lausanne, Switzerland. He was a specialist in highway construction, and from 1922 he taught at the Ukrainian Husbandry Academy in Poděbrady, Czechoslovakia, where he prepared textbooks on geometry (1922) and melioration (1925).
