Vasylenko, Viktor

Vasylenko, Viktor [Василенко, Віктор], b 12 February 1839 in Panske, Zolotonosha county, Poltava gubernia, d 6 April 1914 in Bilyky, Kobeliaky county, Poltava gubernia. Economist and ethnographer. He worked as a statistician in the Poltava zemstvo and the Poltava peasant land bank and collected statistical and ethnographic materials on Poltava gubernia. His articles on topics such as brotherhoods and guilds, folk meteorology, student residences, peasant fairs, land leasing, games of peasant children, farming associations, and the 1785 register of Hadiach regiment appeared in Kievskaia starina and other journals and newspapers.
