Lysenko family

Lysenko family. A Cossack starshyna family in Left-Bank Ukraine in the 17th and 18th centuries. Ivan Lysenko (d 1699) was colonel of Chernihiv regiment (1669–71), envoy of the general starshyna to Moscow (1672), general osaul (1672–8) of the Hetman state, colonel of Pereiaslav regiment (1677–8, 1690–2), and a participant in the Chyhyryn campaigns, 1677–8, Crimean campaign (1689), and Azov campaign (1696). His son, Fedir Lysenko (d 1751), was a general osaul (1728–41) and general judge (1741–51). The composer Mykola Lysenko was a descendant of the family.
