Pyvovarov, Hryhorii [Пивоваров, Григорій], b 22 March 1908 in Lokhvytsia, Poltava gubernia, d 15 May 1942 in Kerch, Crimea. Sculptor. He studied at the Kyiv State Art Institute (1926–31) and was a member of the Union of Young Artists of Ukraine (1929–31). He sculpted plaster portraits of Taras Shevchenko (1936), Ivan Franko (1939), and Oleksander Dovzhenko (1940); collaborated with Yukhym Bilostotsky and Elius Fridman on the multifigural compositions Socialist Agriculture and Socialist Industry for the Ukrainian pavilion at the Exhibition of the Achievements of the National Economy in Moscow (1937); and created granite monuments to Komsomol heroes in Trypillia (1934–6), to Soviet heroes of the stratosphere in Donetsk (1938), and to Mykola Shchors in Shchors (1939).
